Congratulations to CGH Director, Professor Mac MacLachlan

Professor Mac MacLachlan was announced as one of three recipients of Trinity College Dublin's Global engagement Award on 8th May 2015

Distilling expertise during the “Ebola and Lessons from HIV Response”

On Thursday, 23rd April 2015, a special learning event, hosted by the Centre for Global Health, Trinity College Dublin, was held in partnership with the Dóchas HIV and AIDS,  Humanitarian Aid Working Groups, and the Centre for Global Health.

This event gathered an audience of stakeholders across all levels and sectors, including NGO, civil society, government, and academic, to hear the perspectives of three practitioners who brought a wealth of experience from their work in responding to both the Ebola crisis, and the HIV pandemic. Invited speakers were Dualta Roughneen, Disaster Risk Management Coordinator and WaSH Advisor for Plan Ireland, Breda Gahan, Global HIV & AIDS Program Advisor for Concern Worldwide, and Rosemary Davis, National Health Coordinator for Concern Sierra Leone.

Minister Sean Sherlock visits Centre for Global Health

The Centre for Global Health was delighted yesterday to welcome Minister Sean Sherlock, Minister of State at Department of Foreign Affairs with Special Responsibility for Overseas Development Aid, Trade Promotion and North South co-operation. Minister Sherlock spent some time with the MSc Global Health students, before meeting the staff and doctoral candidates, to hear about the work being carried out in the Centre

The SPHERE PhD Programme in Population Health and Health Serivces invites applicants to apply for their four-year structured PhD Programme

The SPHeRE PhD Programme in Population Health and Health services Research (PHHSR) aspires to cultivate world-class researchers through a four-year structured PhD programme. The SPHeRE Programme can also be undertaken over a longer time period on a part-time basis. The Programme is a joint initiative of the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland, Trinity College Dublin and University College Cork, with funded scholars having the option to also register at University College Dublin, NUI Galway, Maynooth University, University of Limerick, or Dublin City University.

Trinity collaborates on regional High-Level Ministerial Meeting on Promoting Equity and Inclusion in Centreal Americal Social Policies

Prof Mac MacLachlan, Director of the Centre for Global Health and member of the School of Psychology, participated in a meeting in Panama on 28th and 29th of January, as part of the Centre’s collaboration with UNESCO’s Management of Social Transformation programme; and in partership with other leading Central American agencies

The Centre for Global Health Director, Mac MacLachlan, was a co-facilitator (with Priscille Geiser of Handicap International) of a 3-day National Disability Policy Consultation Workshop in Laos, 24-26th November 2014

The workshop was conducted for the Loas Government, with support from Belgium Development Cooperation and the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, with a view to developing a Disability Policy, Strategy and Action Plan.

The second edition of the EquiFrame Manual is available in French and English

We are particularly grateful to our partners in Handicap International who have collaborated with us on up-dating the manual and have translated it into French. Equiframe is now be used by governments across Africa and Asia to promote greater social inclusion in health and welfare polices, and by civil society to strengthen their advocacy work targeted at ensuring that policies effectively promote social inclusion and human rights. Planning meeting for a global research programme hosted by the Centre for Global Health
